Comments:
The “Saints and Spinners” quilt has a story in itself. The unfinished blocks belonged to Helen Krupika and after her passing in the 1950s, her daughter, Darlene Most, received them. Embroidery wasn't something that Darlene liked to do, so the blocks ended up in another drawer. Upon finding them later, Darlene asked friend, Janet Wolfteich, to complete the embroidery work. After the blocks were finished, again they were placed back on a shelf in St. John's Lutheran Church sewing cupboard. Much later while looking through items in the cupboard - there were those finished blocks. The decision was made by the WELCA sewing group to construct a quilt for Camp Carol Joy Holling quilt auction. Janet (Wolfteich) Holtmeier. sewed the quilt top together. Using creative long arm quilting Phyllis Shoenholz stitched into the quilt hidden words of Christian affirmation. Janet Holtmeier and Louise Wulf finished the quilt by hand binding it. Much fun, laughter, and love were spun into the “Saints and Spinners” quilt. It is our prayer that the proceeds will help a youngster enjoy the camping experience.
